Secondary school chemistry education can be quite irregular, and some students are not even required to take an introductory chemistry course.
This online course is designed for life sciences students (medicine, biology, and possibly pharmacy and educational studies). It is intended to give them a grasp of the basic concepts of general chemistry needed to understand important life processes, and to facilitate the day-to-day usage of chemical technology.
Principles and processes taught in the course are illustrated through video sequences of experiments and computer simulations. These are supplemented by a system of online exercises and self-assessment tests. The course is available in French and German.
