Future doctors should be able to assess the quality and significance of scientific publications. To do this, they must have a knowledge of statistics.
Medical studies today are based on problem-oriented learning. It is planned that the teaching of statistics should also focus on practical aspects. However, because of the limited resources available for instruction in this subject, as well as high student numbers, only frontal teaching has been possible so far.
BOMS is a course that offers all medical students problem-oriented learning and interactive exercises in statistics. Inclusion of case studies in the exercises enhances the attractiveness of the course and helps to cement the learning process. Students' basic knowledge of medical statistics and their ability to solve practical problems in this area can be tested directly with BOMS.
