Moodlekonferenz 2007 - Call for Papers

Die Moodlekonferenz 2007 präsentiert didaktisch und technisch interessante Lösungen und Lernanwendungen auf der Basis der Open Source Lernplattform Moodle. Sie möchte Perspektiven einer didaktisch sinnvollen Nutzung in Schule, Hochschule und Unternehmen aufzeigen und zur Diskussion anregen, wie Moodle – konzeptuell und technisch – in künftige Lernlandschaften integriert werden kann.

Die Konferenz findet am 28.-29. März 2007 in Duisburg statt.

Workshop: "Manual zur Evaluation von eLearning-Projekten", Dec. 15 and 19, 2006

Im Rahmen des Swiss Virtual Campus, entwickelt das Mandat "Manual zur Evaluation von eLearning-Projekten" ein Online-Handbuch, um die SVC-Projekte bei der Konzeption der Evaluation und bei der Klärung der für die Evaluation relevanten Fragen zu unterstützen.

Um Sie mit dem Online-Handbuch vertraut zu machen, werden am 15. und 19. Dezember 2006, an der ETH Zürich, deutschsprachige Workshops für die Leiter oder Mitarbeiter der SVC-Projekte organisiert (bitte bis Freitag, 1. Dezember 2006 per E-Mail an Sergio Hoein oder Sibylle Wirth anmelden.)

Call for papers for the 6^th International Conference on Web-Based Education (WBE-2007)

The Sixth IASTED International Conference on Web-based Education will take place on March 14-16, 2007 at Le Majestic Congress Center, Chamonix, France. The Call for papers has been extended until November 22, 2006.

EIAH 2007 : Environnements Informatiques pour l’Apprentissage Humain

EIAH'2007 est une manifestation centrée sur la recherche en EIAH (Environnements Informatiques pour l'Apprentissage Humain), qui aura lieu du 27 au 29 juin 2007 à Lausanne (Suisse).

Le champ scientifique des EIAH touche différentes disciplines : didactiques des disciplines, informatique, psychologie, sciences de l'éducation, pédagogie, sciences de l'information et de la communication ou encore sociologie. SVC-Projekt der ersten Stunde gewinnt Medida-Prix

Das Swiss Virtual Campus Projekt «eCF – get involved in Corporate Finance» hat das Finale des diesjährigen Medida-Prix für sich entschieden. Mit dem Medida-Prix werden Lehr- und Studiensysteme an Hochschulen ausgezeichnet, die auf besonders vorbildliche und innovative Weise digitale Medien mit fortschrittlicher Didaktik verbinden.

«eCF – get involved in Corporate Finance» ist ein Swiss Virtual Campus Projekt der ersten Stunde. Entwickelt in der Impulsphase des Swiss Virtual Campus, in denen Projekte noch ohne die wertvolle Unterstützung der erst 2004 vom Swiss Virtual Campus geförderten Kompetenzzentren gestaltet wurden, beweist das Projektteam seine hohe Kompetenz in allen Belangen des eLearning.

Drei SVC-Projekte unter den zehn Finalisten des MEDIDA-PRIX 2006

Der MEDIDA-PRIX, der mediendidaktische Hochschulpreis der GMW, versteht sich als Impulsgeber für eine nachhaltige Implementierung digitaler Medien in Hochschullehre und -organisation. Studie zur Individualisierung von elektronischen Lernumgebungen

Im Rahmen einer Magisterarbeit an der Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Lehrstuhl für Empirische Pädagogik und Pädagogische Psychologie wird eine Studie zur Individualisierung von elektronischen Lernumgebungen durchgeführt. Für diese Studie suchen wir noch dringend Studierende, die sich bereit erklären an der Untersuchung teilzunehmen. Diese haben die Gelegenheit ihre Mircosoft-Excel-Kenntnisse zu erweitern und Einblick in unsere Forschungsaktivitäten zum Thema e-Learning zu gewinnen.

Call for participation to the e-quality final seminar

The e-Quality project consortium is organising on September 21 and 22 in Szczecin, Poland a seminar on project results and more generally on Quality in Open Distance Learning (ODL). The seminar focus the Higher Education and is widely open to participants all over Europe and abroad. Poland has been chosen in order to attract a large amount of professionals from Central and Eastern Europe.

Quality assessment is becoming an increasingly strategic issue for ODL service providers and users. As the market for ODL services is opening up in Europe, their number in the field is greater than ever. However, end users presently don't have any way of assessing their quality.

The e-Quality project is fully in line with the Bologna Process, in particular with the ENQA Guidelines adopted in 2005 during the Bergen Conference of the European Ministers in charge of Higher Education. The implementation of the ECTS system will facilitate a new type of student and student mobility: students will be able to pick up courses and training programmes here and there according to their specific objectives.

The seminar will mainly focus on discussion and sharing of experience between all participants, including key actors from the international ODL networks involved in Quality. The Deadline for your abstract or poster submission is on the end of june.

Die 15. Fachtagung Kommunikation in Verteilten Systemen (KiVS), wird vom 25. Februar bis 2. März 2007 in Bern stattfinden. Die KiVS 2007 wird im Jahr 2007 zum ersten Mal in ihrer 29-jährigen Geschichte in der Schweiz veranstaltet und wird ausgerichtet von der Forschungsgruppe Rechnernetze und Verteilte Systeme, welche von Prof. Dr. Torsten Braun an der Universität Bern geleitet wird. Die KiVS 2007 wird von Prof. Dr. Burkhard Stiller (Communication Systems Group, Universität Zürich) und Prof. Dr. Georg Carle (Lehrstuhl Rechnernetze und Internet, Universität Tübingen) mitorganisiert.

GIS e-learning project GITTA released under Creative Commons license

The Swiss GIS e-learning project GITTA has now released their basic level lessons and case studies as open content under the Creative Commons license. This means that you are free to use, copy, distribute, translate or even make derivative works of our lessons as long as it is not for commercial use. The intermediate level and some more lessons will be relased within the next months. You can subscribe to the GITTA newsletter to get the full access link and to stay informed about changes within the GITTA project. You can also contact the project authors if you are interested in updating or translating GITTA lessons. Please note that the University of Zurich does offer the needed hosting disk-space without any costs for project participants. GITTA is a community project and is looking for partners who are willing to contribute to the project. Please contact the GITTA coordinator Joël Fisler if you are interested.

E-Learning Conference Hamburg, May 4-5 2006

An e-Learning conference on the topics of strategy, implementation, course development and online didactics will take place in Hamburg on May 4-5, with renowned speakers from the field of e-Learning.

The German "Gesellschaft für Medien in der Wissenschaft e.V. (GMW)" launches the seventh trinational MEDIDA-PRIX for e-learning projects. The price money of EURO 100'000.- will be attributed by a jury to outstanding developments in the field of e-learning, under the two categories "Digital Media in Higher Education" and "Development of Higher Education with digital media".

Students and employees of all institutions of higher education in Switzerland, Austria and Germany can participate. The deadline for project submissions is March 31, 2006.

SWITCHelp – e-Learning Platforms for the Swiss Universities

SWITCH has been successfully hosting the Swiss Virtual Campus (SVC) WebCT VISTA™ platform since two years, in cooperation with EduTech.

A task force has elaborated a business case for e-learning platforms in Switzerland after 2007. The task force recommends to centrally host two professionally supported platforms, one based on commercial software and one on open source software. The three rectors' conferences Conférence des Recteurs des Universités Suisses (CRUS), Konferenz der Fachhochschulen der Schweiz (KFH) and Konferenz der Pädagogischen Hochschulen der Schweiz (SKPH) endorse the task force's recommendations.

Following this business case we have designed the e-learning platforms SWITCHelp services:

• The existing WebCT VISTA™ Enterprise installation now offers access to 20'000 licensed students, effective immediately, and is open to all Swiss cantonal universities, federal institutes of technology, universities of applied sciences and pedagogical universities. The number of licensed students may be further increased as necessary.
• The alternative platform can reasonably go into service in 2007. A new working group, assembling members of the Swiss tertiary education, will tackle the evaluation of this open source platform in 2006, under the auspices of the SVC and SWITCH.

SWITCH and the SVC will jointly finance the development and deployment of the SWITCHelp services until the end of 2007. The CRUS, KFH and SKPH agreed to find a financing model, based on user and central funding, from 2008.

The new e-learning platforms services are well in line with the overall SWITCH strategy of e-academia, including the support of virtual academic communities, and complementing our services for e-conferencing, ubiquity & roaming and authentication & authorization.
