As part of Basle University, the Swiss Tropical Institute offers courses in tropical medicine, travel medicine and international health.

Practical microscopy courses play a major role in medical training. However, the small number of microscopes and preparations available is often a limiting factor. TropEduWeb is the ideal solution for this part of the training: an e-course in tropical medicine, diagnostic parasitology, epidemiology, and public and international health.

It is aimed at students of medicine, natural sciences and those taking part in the interdisciplinary course of study "Man, Society and Environment". Topics include electronic presentations, photographs, web-based microscope, multiple choice tests and case studies.
